‘Next days’: Romano says club are trying to get rid of ‘astonishing’ West Ham target as soon as possible now
Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the future of Everton and West Ham United target Gini Wijnaldum.
The journalist says it has been confirmed that Wijnaldum will leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, just a year after he joined them from Liverpool.
He says that PSG are looking to loan or sell him in the coming days and finding a new club is now a work in progress.
Former Tottenham and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho apparently wants him at Roma, but there is Premier League interest too.

Romano update on Wijnaldum
Last month, it was reported by that Everton and West Ham are among the club’s interested in the Dutchman to boost their midfield ranks.
Given Wijnaldum’s Anfield connections, a move to Goodison Park would be an interesting prospect, especially after what happened with Rafa Benitez last term.
Wolves and Leicester City were also named in the report, and Wijnaldum could replace Toffees target Leander Dendoncker at Molineux.
The Foxes need to move players on before they can sign anyone, and may well be searching for a Youri Tielemans replacement before the window closes.
Tielemans is most likely to join Arsenal, who were also credited with an interest in Wijnaldum back in March but seem to have prioritised the Belgian now.
For a reminder of just how highly regarded Wijnaldum was at Anfield, let’s look back at Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to his departure a year ago.
He told the “It was difficult for all of us because of how much this astonishing person means to the group. He’s been a big part of our lives for so long. There is nothing I won’t miss about him. I will miss the player he is like crazy – highest-quality ability, one of the smartest players I have ever had the privilege to coach.
“His contribution was off the scale, a manager’s dream. But as a person he’ll leave just as big a hole. A more giving individual you could not wish to meet. Gini is very strong and opinionated, but his motivation is only to help the team – always. His teammates adored him and respected him in equal measure.
“His smile lit up our workplace. He was a huge part of our beating heart. Farewell, Gini: you came, you saw, you won the lot. You’re a Liverpool legend now and forever.”
Wijnaldum’s move to PSG has gone so badly that he has now lost his spot in the Netherlands squad, just months out from the World Cup, but those comments are a reminder of how good he can be when he is playing regularly.
