Newcastle United announced the signing of Nick Pope from Burnley yesterday, but the Englishman isn’t the only relegated player on the Magpies’ wish list.

Pope was a part of the Burnley side that went down last season. The Clarets are now gearing up for a year in the Championship under Vincent Kompany, who has already lost his goalkeeper and plenty of other players.

Now, it looks like two more Burnley stars – Dwight McNeil and Maxwel Cornet – will be on the move this summer, and Newcastle, after sealing the deal for Pope, are keen to bring them in as well.

However, journalist Dean Jones believes Eddie Howe could face competition from as many as 10 clubs from across the country for their signatures this summer.

Even though Burnley’s system never really allowed McNeil and Cornet to express themselves as much as they would’ve liked, everyone in the Premier League knows how good they are.

It is no surprise at all that Newcastle are keen to sign them after securing Pope’s signature, but Jones has claimed that half of the sides in the Premier League are trying to snap them up as well.

The reporter told : “Nick Pope is a great goalkeeper right here, right now, and basically available.

“Cornet and McNeil, I think they’re going to have so much competition to sign those two. I think half the Premier League wants to sign them, to be honest.”

Cornet and McNeil are both fantastic players in their own right.

The Ivorian scored nine goals for Burnley in his debut year in the Premier League last season. He deserves a lot of praise for that considering how poor the Clarets were throughout the campaign.

McNeil, on the other hand, has been a popular name for a while now, and he’s a hugely talented player. He didn’t have the best of campaigns last season, but he has already shown how good he can be in the Premier League.

Signing both players will be extremely difficult for Newcastle this summer, but even if they can lure in one of them, that’d be a fantastic bit of business.
