Jurgen Klopp’s inspiration willing to join Newcastle United – report
A new era has arrived at Newcastle United, whose fans can now dream of high-profile acquisitions and potential league and cup challenges.
The Magpies are under new ownership, with a Saudi-led consortium taking over from Mike Ashley earlier this week.
Newcastle fans celebrated the news, optimistic that relegation battles and lacklustre football will soon be a thing of the past.
And according to , the new Magpies owners have been told about a backroom figure with a reputation for transforming clubs.
That man is Ralf Rangnick, the former Hoffenheim manager and mastermind behind RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg’s rise.
He is currently Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow.
According to , Rangnick is apparently open to the challenge of an executive role at Newcastle.
Lee Charnley is remaining in his role on an interim basis to help smooth the transition, but will depart in the coming weeks, added the report.
Rangnick’s CV, as both a manager and a director, is superb.
At Hoffenheim, he achieved successive promotions to lead the club to the Bundesliga.
At Schalke, meanwhile, he won the 2011 DFB-Pokal and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
And at Red Bull, he turned their clubs into domestic powerhouses and conveyor belts of talent, sold for big profits and replaced by more superb prospects.
Rangnick also invented Gegenpressing and is credited for influencing Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralph Hasenhuttl, and Jurgen Klopp.
The Liverpool boss is quoted by as saying Rangnick is “one of the best, if not the best German coach”.
