Newcastle United could now launch £40m bid to sign ‘world-class’ Bayern Munich attacker
Newcastle United are reportedly plotting an ambitious move to sign a Bayern Munich star who’s facing an uncertain future this summer.
Eddie Howe has wasted no time strengthening his Newcastle squad as he prepares for the new season. The arrivals of Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos have bolstered Howe’s options at centre-back and between the sticks.
Newcastle missed out on qualifying for Europe last season after Manchester United’s shock FA Cup final victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.
While missing out on Europe was a blow for the Magpies, it would appear that it hasn’t discouraged them from targeting established stars this summer.

Newcastle weighing up Serge Gnabry bid
According to on Sunday [14/07, page 78], Newcastle are plotting an ambitious move to land Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry this summer.
The outlet claims the Magpies could launch a £40 million bid to sign the German winger.
Gnabry is facing an ‘uncertain’ future in Munich after Vincent Kompany beat a host of Premier League sides to signing Michael Olise.

Newcastle could face competition for Gnabry signing
Gnabry would tick plenty of boxes for Howe after the Newcastle boss struggled for options off the right-hand side last season.
Miguel Almiron’s future also remains up in the air and it’s no secret that the Magpies are likely to strengthen their wide options.
Previously lauded as a ‘world-class’ forward, Gnabry would certainly provide Howe with real quality on either flank. But Newcastle could face stern competition for his signature should he decide to leave Bayern.
Indeed, Gnabry is also attracting interest from Arsenal – eight years after leaving the Emirates Stadium.
The 29-year-old managed just 20 appearances in all competitions last season after ongoing struggles with injuries. But he remains an intriguing option for a host of top sides and this move could be one to keep an eye on this summer.
