Newcastle target Krzysztof Piatek would be a brilliant addition

Newcastle United have hardly struck gold in the transfer market since their return to the Premier League and their dealings have often been scrutinised by supporters.

But that could all be about to change, as the Magpies have reportedly drawn up a new attacking target for January.

, the North East club are monitoring centre-forward Krzysztof Piatek from Italian club Genoa.

The report details Newcastle scouts have watched the Poland international in action and that he’s valued at around £14million, despite only joining Genoa for £3million in the summer.

Rafael Benitez’s side are expected to invest in January and their new target could be a brilliant way to make up for previous failings at St James’ Park.

Piatek has made a stunning start to life in Italy, scoring 13 goals in 13 games across all competitions for Genoa.

The striker looks like he could be a potential bargain at £14million for Newcastle and finally be an answer to their problems in the final third.

He is a natural goalscorer that has become clinical in the penalty area and his strength plus ability in the air means he could settle well in English football if he ends up making the move.

Piatek should only get better at his age and is the type of young exciting signing that Newcastle have rarely seen recently.
