Newcastle supporters react as club reportedly eye Wout Weghorst

Newcastle are reportedly rivalling Arsenal to sign Wolfsburg target man Wout Weghorst this summer with the German club requesting a nine-figure fee – and Toon supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Weghorst, 27, has been in sensational form for German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg since he joined the club in the summer of 2018. He has scored 38 goals in 78 league and cup outings – as well as creating 12 more.

Standing at a lofty 6ft 5in, four-time Netherlands international Weghorst is renowned for his stunning aerial ability – but also his inventiveness to bring other players into the game. Think Andy Carroll, but much more prolific.

Newcastle want to sign Weghorst despite offering Carroll a new contract. Brazilian striker Joelinton, meanwhile, could be replaced after netting just two goals in the Premier League this term.

Arsenal are also expected to be after a striker this summer. Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have both been linked with the exit doors at the Emirates this summer – the latter entering the final year of his deal.

Newcastle supporters have reacted to the reported news on Twitter that the Toon want to sign Weghorst this summer with a fee of £32million enough to land the big striker – and many think he would be a good addition.
