Newcastle should target Xherdan Shaqiri if they lose Ayoze Perez to Tottenham
Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez is reportedly wanted by Tottenham this summer and he’d leave a huge gap at St James’ Park.
Spurs are on the brink of signing the Spaniard for £25million.
The 25-year-old played a key role for the Magpies this season, as they stayed in the Premier League for a second straight year.
He scored 13 times in 41 games across all competitions and is a playmaker with an incredible work-rate.
Perez has shown he can play behind the striker or out wide and finding a replacement would be tough.
But Newcastle should cast their eye to Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri if Tottenham to prize Perez away from the North East.

Liverpool could sell Shaqiri this summer just a year on from signing him from Stoke City.
The 27-year-old is a versatile attacker that hasn’t cemented his spot in the Reds team this campaign, but still popped up with key moments and previously showed at Stoke City he can rip apart the Premier League.
He’s made 30 appearances for Liverpool this term, scoring six goals and supplying five assists in return.
Newcastle should target Shaqiri to help add some more quality in the final third and may be a strong option to replace Perez.
