Newcastle set to miss out as £16.8m ‘wonderboy’ is about to join Champions League club instead
It has just come to light, that a £16.8m ‘wonderboy’, who Newcastle United were linked with, is about to join a Champions League club instead, according to a recent report.
Eddie Howe’s side endured an injury-hit campaign last term but still managed to finish inside the top seven.
The former Bournemouth man will need to be backed this window to bolster his squad in order to eliminate the chances of another injury-plagued year.
Though, it seems he’s about to miss out on a target.

Newcastle United set to miss out on Zeno Debast
Newcastle United have been credited with an interest in Anderlecht centre-back Zeno Debast in the weeks leading up to the summer transfer window.
They were considering a move along with West Ham United, though, he’s now set to join Champions League outfit Sporting Lisbon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist took to X last night and confirmed that a deal between Anderlecht and Sporting had been agreed for the defender.
Debast was keen on working under Ruben Amorim and playing in the Champions League, which is perhaps why Newcastle’s interest appeared to cool.
Newcastle United about to sign Lloyd Kelly
Another factor for missing out on Debast may have been due to their pursuit of Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.
The 25-year-old is set to be announced in the coming days after signing as a free agent, so they could’ve opted to pull out of the race for the Belgium international to focus on other targets.
Now, the focus will turn towards a goalkeeper, as talks continue for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
