Newcastle scouts in heaven as two reported striker targets score in Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Hoffenheim fixture

Eintracht Frankfurt hosted Hoffenheim over the weekend in the Bundesliga with both sides vying for the European spots.

But this game would have been of interest to Newcastle United scouts with several previously reported targets on display.

And Newcastle scouts would have been impressed with what they saw as two reported striker targets found the net in this fixture.

Eintracht Frankfurt emerged as 3-2 winners in a dramatic affair with Sebastien Haller scoring for the hosts, while Joelinton netted for the visitors.

Newcastle’s interest in Joelinton, although the reported €60m price tag is surely wide of the mark.

This took his tally to 11 goals and six assists for the season so it would be no surprise if Newcastle continue to monitor the 22-year-old ahead of a summer move.

Haller has also been linked with Newcastle in the past; he was the Magpies’ number one target heading into January 2019, .

And the Frenchman proved exactly what he is capable of by inspiring a stunning late comeback for Frankfurt.

His side were trailing 2-1 with one minute remaining but Haller had other ideas. The 24-year-old scored and then provided an assist for Goncalo Pacienca to score a 95th minute winner.

With 17 goals and 12 assists this season, Newcastle would pull off a remarkable coup if they land Haller next summer.
