Newcastle reportedly want managed that once stormed out of training because of current Toon attacker

Lucien Favre is reportedly high on Newcastle’s manager shortlist – but if Favre is to join, he and Allan Saint-Maximin will have to forget the past.

that Favre, 63, is a target for Newcastle and that the Frenchman himself is keen on a move to Tyneside. He is out of work.

Favre has a highly-regarded reputation that includes impressive stints with Gladbach, Dortmund and Nice. The latter, where he met Saint-Maximin.

These days, 24-year-old Saint-Maximin is a more mature player. While he likes to engage with fans, many feel becoming a Father has helped him.

But during his time at Nice, under Favre between 2016 and 2018 – the two were involved in a training-ground altercation,

: “Allan’s first training; Lucien furiously stormed into the board members’ office. He asked them to sell him back. Immediately.”

Favre would get the best out of Saint-Maximin at Newcastle

Despite a rocky relationship at Nice, Favre and Saint-Maximin would work wonders at Newcastle. That is because, Favre knows Saint-Maximin.

Coming into a new club, having a relationship with the best player is always helpful. Saint-Maximin has shown magic, but not consistently on Tyneside.

If anyone has the best chance of getting Saint-Maximin firing, then it is Favre. Saint-Maximin has grown up since moving to England from France.

Meeting in the middle, Favre has the ability to get the best out of the winger – something Steve Bruce has not been able to do, even as a striker.
