Newcastle reportedly ready to sign ‘spectacular’ attacker who played 39 times with Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle United have had a relatively quiet transfer window so far this summer.
The Magpies finally landed Sven Botman after months of pursuing the Netherlands defender.
Newcastle also brought in goalkeeper Nick Pope and made Matt Targett’s loan permanent.
However, this weekend has seen the St James’ Park outfit linked with two new England-based players.
, Newcastle tried their luck with a £40million bid for James Maddison, which Leicester rejected.
Meanwhile, claimed on Friday that the Magpies had set their sights on Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet.

Newcastle are reportedly ready to trigger the Ivory Coast winger’s £17.5million relegation release clause.
Cornet to Newcastle a no-brainer – TBR View
The idea of Magpies signing Cornet has .
Nonetheless, there is certainly good business to be done from snapping up relegated clubs’ standout players.
Liverpool struck gold when they snapped up Andy Robertson from Hull and (apologies for bringing this up) Georginio Wijnaldum from St James’ Park.
Cornet stood out for a defensive Burnley outfit last season, managing from 26 Premier League outings.
And prior to joining the Clarets in 2021, the 25-year-old was a regular for Lyon, and his tally there is impressive.
Cornet made 252 competitive appearances for OL, registering .
He also made appearances alongside Bruno Guimaraes and with reported Magpies target Lucas Paqueta.
There are more Newcastle links – he is part of the agency alongside several Magpies players.
Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, Karl Darlow and Paul Dummett are also with USG.
And Alan Shearer has already given a verdict on Cornet, his ability to score “spectacular goals” earlier this year.
Cornet is just 25, stood out for Burnley, impressed with Lyon, knows Bruno well, and is available for less than £20m – sounds like a no-brainer.
