£38 Newcastle player produces ‘world-class’ moment in 2-1 win over Tottenham

Newcastle picked up a huge win over Tottenham today as goals from both Harvey Barnes and Alexander Isak got them over the line.

Eddie Howe was desperate to see his side come out on top after admitting they’d had a disappointing transfer window.

An early goal from Harvey Barnes set the Toon on their way but Tottenham did peg them back in the second half before a breakaway winner from Isak sealed it.

But while Isak was ‘phenomenal’ in his performance with the ball, the goal from Barnes was nice to see after the man suffered with injuries last term.

Barnes was knocking on the door of the England squad before being ruled out. But his finish today was that of a player who looks back to their best.

And looking at Barnes’ finish to make it 1-0, BBC pundit Pat Nevin lauded the finish as world-class.

Harvey Barnes praised for his ‘astonishing’ goal v Tottenham

Watching the game for , Nevin suggested the goal from Barnes was actually ‘world-class’ technique.

“Newcastle are looking really dangerous. I said earlier what I think of Harvey Barnes. That finish is astonishing. He has just nailed it into the far corner. I knew it wouldn’t be 0-0,” Nevin said.

“It’s bounced and skidded off the surface but it’s high. The technique Barnes used is world class.”

Barnes will now be hoping for a good few weeks of training while the international games unfold before kicking on further under Eddie Howe.

With a performance like today and a goal under his belt as well, it’s going very well at the moment.

And who knows, by the next international break, Barnes might have even got himself back in contention to be part of the squad again.

Newcastle fans will very much hope that is the case.
