Newcastle offered ‘special’ player £100k-a-week contract, but he’s set to move elsewhere
Newcastle United have missed out on one signing despite being willing to offer him a contract worth more than £100,000-a-week in the summer transfer window.
The Magpies will be looking to bounce back from what was a more underwhelming campaign at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe’s side not building on their fourth place finish the previous year.
Unfortunately, they have been dealt a blow at the start of the summer, with one player turning down the chance to move to Tyneside to instead join a Premier League rival.
Newcastle were one of the sides interested in Tosin Adarabioyo, with the centre-back set to leave Fulham on a free transfer in this window.
Newcastle offered Tosin Adarabioyo £100,000-a-week
Tosin was offered to a number of clubs, including Arsenal. But it appears that the 26-year-old is set to join Chelsea, potentially becoming the first signing of the Enzo Maresca era at Stamford Bridge.
According to a report from , Newcastle put a contract offer on the table worth more than £100,000-a-week in their attempt to sign Tosin. However, the former Manchester City star has rejected the chance to sign for the Magpies.

Newcastle are going to bounce back from missing out on the ‘‘ Tosin, with another Premier League player closing in on joining the club.
Magpies close to getting one deal done
Newcastle are close to signing Lloyd Kelly, with the Bournemouth defender also available on a free transfer this summer.
Kelly can play in a couple of roles within the backline, so he could prove to be a really smart signing, particularly as his arrival is hardly going to take a bite out of the transfer budget.
Newcastle have had to be clever in the market since the new owners came in, so landing a Premier League player on a free transfer would prove to be a really shrewd piece of business.
But clearly, they will be disappointed to not sign Tosin with Newcastle prepared to part with a hefty sum to sign him.
