Newcastle now willing to ignore Crystal Palace rule to land late deal for Marc Guehi
Newcastle United are playing a dangerous game in this summer’s transfer window as they work into the final hours of the market.
Eddie Howe is less than 48 hours away from ending the summer on the back of a seriously underwhelming transfer window.
The Toon have seen a few players arrive on Tyneside so far this summer but the standout addition has been Lloyd Kelly on a free.
Clearly, there is one player who Newcastle want to sign before the deadline on Friday evening.
Newcastle have made multiple bids for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi but are yet to see a real breakthrough in negotiations.
The clock is ticking on Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell who have already been warned of an embarrassing summer by Alan Shearer.

Newcastle set to break rule to land Marc Guehi
Considering Newcastle came into the summer on the back of an injury-riddled campaign, there has not been a lot done by the board to bolster the squad.
Howe will not have had huge expectations for Newcastle this summer but the lack of business done by the Toon has been worrying.
After selling Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to balance the books against PSR, this Newcastle side is arguably weaker than the one which ended last season.

According to , Newcastle are not getting into the stages of the window where they may well be willing to push the limits.
Guehi is clearly their top target for the remaining hours with Crystal Palace rating him in the region of £70m.
And despite having told Newcastle a deal will not be sanctioned in the final days of the window, the Magpies are willing to push Palace right down to the wire.
A bid of £70m is beyond what Newcastle thought they would be willing to pay for Guehi this summer, but their lack of business seems to have them in a state of desperation.
Newcastle need to learn from this dreadful summer market
There’s no doubting there has been a lot of movement away from the pitch at St James’ Park this summer which may have caused disruption.
However, their seeming lack of planning going into the window has really hurt them with Paul Mitchell’s arrival on Tyneside failing to deliver, so far.
Even if Newcastle are to land Guehi, they are likely to have overpaid and will have seen their negotiations go on right until the final hours despite wanting him for their Japan tour.
Howe cannot be pleased with the way this summer has unfolded and it has potential to end in really disappointing fashion if they do not land Guehi.
