Newcastle now think ‘unbelievable’ player may not join them in January
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are in doubt over signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.
That is according to TuttoJuve, which has reported interest in the former Leeds United midfielder from two other clubs in the Premier League.
So, what has been reported about Newcastle United and Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look.
Newcastle United think they could miss out on Kalvin Phillips
Well, according to , Newcastle United are interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the January transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that the transfer is “in doubt” at the moment. Newcastle now think that he may not join them this month. Crystal Palace and Fulham are ready to make their moves for the England international midfielder.
TuttoJuve has noted that Juventus also want to sign Phillips, adding that like Newcastle, they are “doubtful” of a potential deal.
My View: Newcastle United should bid for Kalvin Phillips
In my view, Newcastle United should do their best to sign Kalvin Phillips from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the January transfer window.
Sandro Tonali is banned, so, for the short term at least, Phillips would be able to fill in for the Italian midfielder.

Phillips is 28 now and is at the top of his game. I believe that the England international midfielder would be able to make a good impact on the Newcastle team in the long term as well.
True, the Englishman has failed to make an impact at City since his move in 2022, but we saw when he was at Leeds United just how good and brilliant he is. Jack Harrison described Phillips as an .
I do not think that Phillips is an ‘elite’ player, but then again, Newcastle are not at a level to attract ‘elite’ footballers. I believe that a transfer would suit both the player and the club.
