Newcastle United are considering a move for Brian Brobbey in the January transfer window, with Eddie Howe’s side looking to bolster their ranks next month.

That is according to a report from , which notes that the 21-year-old has caught the attention of the Magpies after a strong start to the campaign.

It has been a turbulent season for Ajax. But from the start of November, they have won all but one of their Eredivisie games. And they now find themselves fifth in the table – admittedly 19 points behind the flawless league leaders PSV Eindhoven.

And it seems that his form has caught the attention of Newcastle. reports that the Magpies are interested in Brobbey heading into the January window.

Magpies will hope impressive transfer record continues

Newcastle have been decimated by injuries this term. It has been clear that many of their players are running on empty, with the side losing 3-0 and 4-1 in the Premier League last week.

So bringing in further reinforcements in January would be a big boost – particularly if they remain in Europe during the second-half of the season.

Brobbey has a very impressive record for Ajax. But his time with RB Leipzig in between his two spells in Amsterdam was a disappointment. And he returned to the Netherlands in a deal after making just 14 appearances in Germany.

Having said that, Newcastle have got very little wrong in the market over the last few windows. So if they do decide to make a move for Brobbey, it would certainly be an indication that Howe sees the Netherlands international as a very exciting talent for the future.
