Newcastle now close to signing wonderkid who plays like Fabinho
Newcastle are now close to bringing a top talent to St James’ Park – one who plays like Brazil international Fabinho.
The Magpies have already been busy this summer, bringing Lloyd Kelly, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lewis Hall and John Ruddy to Tyneside.
Now, Eddie Howe is on the verge of welcoming another exciting player to Newcastle…
Newcastle agree Rory Finneran deal
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Newcastle have agreed a deal with Blackburn for the signing of Rory Finneran.
The reliable Italian journalist claims that the Magpies view the 16-year-old as a “huge talent” and he will sign a contract with Newcastle today (Tuesday 30th July).
It remains to be seen what Howe does with Finneran – who is captain of the Republic of Ireland U17 side – with many expecting a player so young to go straight into the academy.
However, the 46-year-old has already shown he is not afraid to throw young talents into his starting XI if he feels they are good enough, having made Lewis Miley a regular starter at the age of just 17 last season.

Blackburn clearly believe Finneran is capable of playing senior football already, having thrown him into the mix during an FA Cup clash against Cambridge on 6th January 2024 when he was just 15 years, ten months and eight days old.
In doing so, the Irishman became Blackburn’s youngest ever debutant.
Magpies could have the new Fabinho
As a result of Finneran’s age, many Newcastle fans are unlikely to know much about him.
As aforesaid, the teenager has actually been compared to Brazil international Fabinho – who Liverpool sold in July 2023 – to provide an understanding of his playing style.
It was who made the comparison, writing that Finneran is a “tenacious, aggressive” midfielder who can also slot in as a central defender if need be.

By the sounds of it, the Blackburn academy graduate is a similar player to Miley – in truth, the pair could even make up Newcastle’s midfield for the next decade if they fulfil their potential.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Newcastle should announce Finneran’s arrival soon.
