Newcastle must now pay £5m loan fee if they want to sign ‘unbelievable’ Premier League player
Newcastle United will reportedly have to pay a loan fee worth £5m if they’re to sign Kalvin Phillips for the remainder of the season.
Manchester City are open to letting the England international leave this January, with Phillips hardly featuring for Pep Guardiola’s side since joining 18 months ago from Leeds United.
Given the midfielder’s impressive CV, interest has been high in Phillips, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and, of course, Newcastle, all linked with the 28-year-old.

And that City will demand a loan fee of £5m if they’re to offload Phillips this month, with the Manchester giants also likely to include an obligation to buy clause worth around £40m.
Whilst the latter part of this agreement would be a major sticking point for most clubs, a £5m fee for Phillips for the remainder of the season could be appealing for Newcastle.
The Magpies’ current injury crisis is one of the worst in the Premier League, and Newcastle know that Phillips would offer a lot of quality and depth in the midfield that is sorely missed.
Newcastle have to make a loan move for Kalvin Phillips

Newcastle know that the loan market is going to be their best friend this January, with FFP restrictions meaning the Magpies have to be creative this month in the market.
And with City now setting their initial demands for Phillips, Newcastle must do all they can to bring the England international to St. James’ Park in the coming weeks.
Whilst the midfielder has hardly kicked a ball this season, Phillips’ history in the Premier League should be enough to convince Newcastle fans that he is a golden signing this January.
