Newcastle may now consider move for ‘fantastic’ player in January – journalist
Journalist Craig Hope has suggested that Newcastle United could look to make a move for David De Gea in January, particularly as they may now have less money to spend next month.
Eddie Howe꧋ is facing another tricky window at St James’ Park. While Newcastle have wealthy owners, they do not have the opportunity to spend as they wish. And what makes their task even more difficult is that their squad has been decimated by injuries.
Newcastle may look at David De Gea in January
Nick Pope is one of those who is facing some time on the sidelines. And with that, Newcastle have been linked with signing another goalkeeper. Aaron Ramsdale is a target for the Magpies. But Craig Hope has suggested on that they could look at David De Gea.
𝓰“Will there be money in January? There will be less money in January on the back of last night. That’s why last night was so important,” he said.

🍨“I think one player they might look at is David de Gea. Martin Dubravka has come in, he’s had three games now and hasn’t looked great if we’re honest. There is an unemployed Spaniard who is very good sat out there at Madrid. That is one we could see movement on.”
A decent move for both parties
🤡Of course, Newcastle being knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday was a big blow. And given their current problems, it is going to be hugely difficult to get back to Europe’s top table for next season.
﷽De Gea is unlikely to come cheap, even as a free agent. But it could be a short-term deal which proves to be extremely beneficial for both parties.
𝓡The Spaniard can put himself in the shop window ahead of the summer having remained a free agent since leaving Manchester United in the summer.
✨Meanwhile, Newcastle would be getting themselves a ‘‘ goalkeeper on a free transfer. Hope clearly believes that he would be an upgrade on Martin Dubravka.
ඣSo you can understand why such a deal may appeal to the Newcastle hierarchy as they look to make the most of their budget in January.
