Report: Newcastle ready to pay close to £20m for 23-year-old international defender
Newcastle United are in negotiations with Galatasaray over the potential signing of Danish defender, Victor Nelsson, according to reports from Turkey.
claims that Newcastle are keen on signing Nelsson from the Turkish giants after an impressive run of for this season has seen him catch the eye in Europe. Nelsson, 23, has already been capped by Denmark and is predominantly played at centre-back for Galatasaray.

He mad his name with FC Copenhagen before sealing a move to Turkey last year. From there, he has impressed and has been a regular this season, with appearances across all competitions for Nelsson. The report from claims that Newcastle have tried to get Nelsson for as little as £12m. However, Gala are said to be wanting closer to the £20m mark for their man as they seek to make a hefty profit on any potential sale.
Newcastle have all but secured their Premier League status for next season after a run of fine form in recent months.
Focus, then, will shift to who the club can sign in the summer. A centre-back is said to be a priority, as the Mags missed out on big names like Diego Carlos and Sven Botman during the January window.

In terms of potential, Nelsson ticks a lot of boxes for the Magpies. 23 is a good age to bring someone in at and there is no doubting that Nelsson can come in and do a job for Newcastle as is. However, he is also young enough to invest in and develop, and that makes him an exciting prospect.
In terms of the summer, you get the feeling it’s a huge one for the club and PIF. This next year or two will cement where Newcastle are really going to be. If they splash the cash, then Europe will very much be the target next term.
