Newcastle lead race to sign striker who was playing amateur football in 2022
Newcastle United endured a really disappointing summer transfer window.
Newcastle missed out on signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who was at the summit of Eddie Howe’s wishlist.
They also failed to land a winger which was another area Howe was keen to strengthen following the departure of Yankuba Minteh to Brighton.
So evidently, there is unfinished transfer business to do in January and it’s just come to light that they’re leading the race to sign a striker in Spain.

Uche statistics compared to Alexander Isak
If Newcastle were to land Uche’s signature, he’d be competing against Alexander Isak for a spot in Howe’s line-up.
Here are how their statistics compare, as per .
Stats per 90 | Christantus Uche | Alexander Isak |
Non-penalty goals | 0.51 | 0.11 |
Assists | 0.11 | 0.00 |
Shot-creating actions | 3.33 | 2.70 |
Successful take-ons | 1.24 | 1.74 |
Evidently, Isak’s output is far superior, however, considering Uche is only 21 and was playing amateur football in 2022, he still has plenty of time to develop.
