Newcastle internally discussing swoop for ‘unbelievable’ Chelsea player

Newcastle United are set for a busy end to the transfer window, with Eddie Howe clearly having one position on his mind in the coming days.

The Magpies have been linked with a number of players in recent days, with Newcastle in talks to sign Edmond Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen as the Toon struggle to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi.

With Newcastle also chasing Ferran Torres, it’s clear that the northeast Premier League side are looking to end the transfer window with a flourish, with European qualification on Howe’s mind with the start of the new season.

And Newcastle are now seemingly eyeing a Chelsea player before the market closes.

Newcastle discussing move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

According to , Trevoh Chalobah is being internally discussed as a potential signing for Newcastle this summer, with the defender set to leave Chelsea before the end of the transfer window.

Chalobah has been linked with Newcastle in recent days with the 24-year-old centre-back expected to be one of many first-team Chelsea players who are expected to depart Stamford Bridge in the coming days.

Praised as ‘unbelievable’ by Rio Ferdinand, Chalobah could be an exceptional signing for Newcastle if a deal for Guehi or Tapsoba fails to materialise, with the Blues defender likely to be the cheapest option of the three, as well.

Moreover, with Chalobah having his Chelsea kit number stripped, a deal to bring the defender to St. James’ Park could be easy for Newcastle to conclude, with the west London side seemingly desperate to move on the Cobham academy graduate.

Magpies need to be all over bringing Chalobah to St. James’ Park

Chelsea’s treatment of Chalobah has been nothing short of torrid given how well the defender has done for his boyhood club in the last two seasons, with the centre-back turning up no matter what.

Yet for Newcastle, Chelsea’s loss could be their gain with Chalobah, with the English defender a potential bargain if the Toon can strike a deal with Enzo Maresca’s side for the 24-year-old.

Newcastle’s need for a central defender should take the Magpies to Chelsea, where Chalobah could be a dream signing and one that helps Howe once again achieve European qualification for the northeast Premier League giants.
