Newcastle have some interest in signing Ross Barkley – journalist
Journalist Dean Jones that Newcastle United have some interest in Ross Barkley, and suggested that they could perhaps consider a move should they fail to sign James Maddison.
The Magpies appear to be prioritising a move for Maddison this summer. Eddie Howe’s men have made two bids for the Leicester City star.

They are yet to meet the Foxes’ £60 million asking price with those two offers. And with that, they are considering alternative names for those attacking areas.
Reports have claimed that they want Harvey Barnes. Meanwhile, they have also reportedly made a big bid for Jack Harrison.

But perhaps they could end up making a move to sign Barkley from Chelsea. Jones suggested that his potential return to Everton is in the balance. And it could be Newcastle who now offer him a fresh challenge in the final stages of the transfer window.
“I have heard there is some interest from Newcastle in Ross Barkley, so maybe that is one they turn to later on if the James Maddison offers do not work out,” .
“Nothing has developed yet but it seems like there are stumbling blocks with him going back to Everton.”
Newcastle have interest in Ross Barkley
Barkley needs to leave Chelsea this summer. Unfortunately, the move to Stamford Bridge has really not worked out for the England international. And he has watched his development stagnate.
At 28, he really needs the next move to be the perfect one.
For Newcastle fans, such a move would be incredibly underwhelming as they pursue names such as James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
If Barkley can get his career back on track, he could prove to be an inspired signing. He was labelled a ‘‘ player during his time at Goodison Park.
But that really seems like a massive if at this point.
