Newcastle have made contact over ‘world class’ midfielder who Arsenal would like to sign

Newcastle United are one of the Premier League clubs who will potentially be feeling underprepared following a slow start in the market.

Eddie Howe‘s side welcome their home fans back to St James Park in just over a week’s time as Southampton land on Tyneside for the season opener.

As things stand, Newcastle have only really been in able to bring in Lloyd Kelly to provide a potential boost to the starting XI.

Newcastle suffered massively last season from not having a strong enough squad to compete across fronts and, so far, they have not done much to address that issue.

It is now believed that the Toon are going to rival Arsenal for the signature of an established midfielder after both clubs had made contact.

Newcastle hold contact with midfielder who Arsenal want to sign

Less than two weeks separate fans and the start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign for nine months of thrills and spills.

One manager who may be wishing there was still a few more weeks to prepare is Howe who has already issued several transfer warnings out to his board.

But Newcastle now look set to go into the new campaign with a squad which has not changed too much over the summer.

If anything, having lost Elliot Anderson and young prospect Yankuba Minteh, it could be argued Newcastle are currently a worse side than they were back in May.

According to , Newcastle are one of the clubs who have held contact with Adrien Rabiot‘s representatives over a potential move.

The a href="//betvisa-cricket.com/world-class-player-is-set-to-decide-his-future-next-week-after-holding-talks-with-arsenal-and-manchester-united/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">world classmidfielder has now been without a club for a number of weeks following his departure from Juventus.

But it is not just Newcastle who have shown an interest in him this summer with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal also on the scene.

Good news for all of these sides is that Rabiot is said to be dreaming of a move to the Premier League this summer.

Newcastle could land established midfielder in Adrien Rabiot

One of Newcastle’s strongest areas is actually in the middle of the park with the likes of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes at Howe’s disposal.

However, by adding a player of Rabiot’s ilk, Newcastle would certainly be making a statement considering he is a regular in the France national side.

The one issue which Newcastle may face is the 29-year-old is likely going to demand a big wage package as a free agent.

It is also worth noting that Newcastle are going to see Sandro Tonali return in the early stages of September which would create massive competition for places.

Of course, this is the argument against Newcastle from last season in not having enough depth, but it is hard to imagine Rabiot being satisfied at being a rotational option.
