Newcastle fans respond to Isaac Hayden’s Tweet after defeat to Crystal Palace
Newcastle suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night at St. James’ Park despite an improved performance that saw The Toon produce a more forward-thinking display – and Newcastle fans have responded to Hayden’s post.
Steve Bruce promised Newcastle fans that he was to take the shackles off his players and let them attack more and he did just that against Everton last weekend, producing an excellent 2-0 win thanks to a brace from star player Callum Wilson.
The signing of attacking midfielder Joe Willock from Arsenal on loan is promising, as was the start to Tuesday night’s match against Palace. Miguel Almiron’s cross was knocked down by Wilson, and Jonjo Shelvey found the bottom corner.
But Palace came roaring back. Goals from Jairo Riedewald and Gary Cahill turned the game on its head, and when Palace took the lead – they sat deep and nullified the Toon. Hayden posted on Twitter after clocking up his 150th outing.
Gutted to not get anything from tonight’s game, game was there for us but it just wasn’t out night. The attacking intent and plan was there. Happy to make my 150th appearance for this great club, hopefully many more to come.

The £2.5million () midfielder has starred for Newcastle in the engine room and performed well again on Tuesday night. He remains a crucial part of Bruce’s side, starting the last four Premier League games for Newcastle.
Toon fans have responded to his post and many were full of praise for the midfielder. One says he “should be our captain”.

I thought the team performance was pretty poor tbh…
That said. You are always one of few that I can never fault for effort. Captain material.
Congrats on 150 appearances.
