Newcastle fans react to Steven Caulker transfer rumour
Newcastle United have been linked with a surprise move for Steven Caulker. , Steve Bruce is a long-term admirer of Caulker and could launch a £2m move for the defender before tomorrow’s deadline.
Caulker currently plays in Turkey for Alanyaspor – where he is getting his career back on track after a series of off-the-field problems. Fenerbahce also want him but Newcastle could offer the 27-year-old a route back to England.
After coming through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, Caulker went on to represent Cardiff City, Liverpool, Southampton, QPR and others. But after being released by QPR in 2017, he has struggled with his career.

Caulker had an unsuccessful stint in Scotland with Dundee before resurrecting his career in Turkey. Now, Newcastle could take a punt on the former one-cap England defender.
The Magpies are not short of options in central defence, though. Jamaal Lascelles, Federico Fernandez, Fabian Schar, Paul Dummett, Florian Lejeune and Ciaran Clark all vie for spots.
Caulker’s arrival could lead to a departure. Here are some tweets from Newcastle fans, who do not seem happy with this transfer link.
Id rather get Darren Peacock back in…

He isn’t very good- keep Clark.

Clark replacement I guess? Would rather keep him at this point, can still come in and do a solid job, not sure about Caulker
