Newcastle fans react to standout performance during Tottenham v Norwich

Norwich City dumped Tottenham Hotspur out of the FA Cup last night with ex-Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul proving the penalty shootout hero.

The Dutchman saved two Spurs spot-kicks to give Norwich a 3-2 victory following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

The Belgian’s goal had looked like being enough but 12 minutes from time Josip Drmic capitalised on a mistake by goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Despite now playing for Norwich, it would appear that Newcastle fans still hold Krul in high regard at St James’ Park.

The 31-year-old left Newcastle permanently in 2017, spending time at Brighton before signing for Norwich.

Krul has eight Holland caps and has played 26 of Norwich’s 28 Premier League games this season.

Despite that, they did take to Twitter last night to praise their former player on a solid performance against a heavily fancied Tottenham.

Krul was famously subbed on in the 120th minute of Holland’s World Cup quarter-final with Costa Rica in 2014. He saved twice on that occasion to set up a semi-final.

Newcastle fans are clearly still fond of him and took to Twitter after the game to rave about his performance.
