Newcastle fans on Twitter left lauding Longstaff after stunning display
Newcastle fans couldn’t get enough of Sean Longstaff.
The young Newcastle midfielder was in inspired form as the Magpies drew 1-1 with Watford.
The travelling side went up through a wonderful Longstaff strike but fell to a draw.
It could have been so much worse, as Josh King’s late winner for the Hornets was ruled out through VAR.
Getting away from the result, though, the fans absolutely loved seeing Longstaff star in midfield.
Newcastle lined up in a new shape for the Watford game.
Steve Bruce opted to use a 4-1-4-1 system at Vicarage Road, and it suited Longstaff down to the ground.
In a midfield pairing with Joe Willock and playing in front of Isaac Hayden, the Magpies got the best out of their academy man.
Newcastle fans couldn’t get enough of Sean Longstaff

The 23-year-old’s strike was just his 5th goal for the club, yet if he plays like he did yesterday more often then there’ll be many more to come.
Longstaff ran the game completely.
His stats were sublime and showcase everything that he’s good at.
In his 90 minutes, he made 4 tackles, 6 clearances, 1 key pass, 1 dribble and was fouled 5 times ().
The goal he scored may have been slightly assisted by some poor goalkeeping but that won’t bother him.
The next step for Longstaff and co will be to get their first win of the season.
Six games in and the Magpies have three draws and three defeats so far, so a win has to follow soon.
If Longstaff continues playing how he did in that system, though, you’d bet on that first win coming sooner rather than later.
What do the fans think?
Personally he was very good today which is what we all want to see from him at but change in the dugout is needed if we’re to stay in the league

Longstaff in this system will thrive to his potential. Been brilliant for a few weeks on the bounce now

Sean is the best

The lad has had a lot of grief. He is a talent, no doubt. Doesnt benefit from a good coach

An absolute cracking footballer, under used and sometimes woefully neglected by that useless knacker in charge of us. Under Rafa he’d be playing for England and now

There’s no way shelvey gets back in ahead of longstaff, the lad is finding form again
