Newcastle fans are now all saying the same thing about Alexander Isak after Liverpool agree £35m sale

Liverpool and Newcastle have experienced vastly different transfer windows so far this summer.

After winning the Premier League title, Liverpool could spend £346m on new recruits this summer, having already splashed £116m and £30m on Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong respectively – with deals for Milos Kerkez and Marc Guehi in the pipeline too.

In stark contrast, Newcastle are yet to make a signing – aside from the arrival of teenage talent Antonio Cordero, who is expected to be loaned out.

Now, the Toon Army are growing a bit nervous about Alexander Isak after hearing that Liverpool had agreed a £35m deal to sell Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen.

Newcastle fans think Liverpool are slowly building funds to sign Alexander Isak

Not only are Liverpool set to receive £35m for Quansah, but the Reds have already earned £18m from the sale of Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford – with both deals set to go down as 100% profit due to the fact they are academy products.

Liverpool could yet receive more cash from sales, as Darwin Nunez is strongly linked with a £40m move to Napoli – who could also take Federico Chiesa from Anfield – while the Telegraph are claiming that Brighton are willing to spend £40m on Harvey Elliott.

In the meantime, TBR Football understand Liverpool are in pole position to sign Isak if the Sweden international opens the door to an exit from Newcastle, and fans are concerned that the Reds are raising money for a significant bid.

One Newcastle supporter posted on X (previously known as Twitter) that Liverpool are “building the Isak fund” – also adding a GIF of a cat looking rather nervous.

Another fan simply wrote that the Swede is “gone” after hearing the Reds are set to receive £35m for Quansah – who Liverpool have negotiated a buyback clause for in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen.

A third Newcastle supporter added to our previous list of potential departures from Anfield this summer, making the excellent point that Luis Diaz could also be offloaded for a significant fee.

Bayern Munich have now asked about Diaz – after Barcelona also made an approach over the Colombia international.

The fan in question wrote: “Kelleher £18m to Brentford. Quansah £30m Leverkusen. Elliott £40m to Brighton. £88m of pure profit and then potentially Diaz and Nunez going for £100m plus.

“Still think Isak ends up at Anfield next season.”

Alexander Isak has already entertained a move to Liverpool

A superstar like the Newcastle No.14 will be eager to ensure his next move aids his career instead of hindering it, and he has already talked up a switch to Anfield.

Isak praised Arne Slot and the playing style the Dutchman has implemented at Anfield when speaking ahead of the Carabao Cup final in March, telling The Shields Gazette: “I really enjoy the games against Liverpool.

“I think they’re not too different to ourselves, a high-pressing team and a direct team, which can lead to many counter-opportunities, and that’s the game I like.”

A lot needs to happen for the 25-year-old to actually become a Liverpool player this summer, but we highly doubt Newcastle’s lack of transfer activity will aid contract discussions, especially given the volume of exciting arrivals over at Anfield.
