Newcastle eyeing move for Premier League striker with 57 goals loved by Eddie Howe amid Alexander Isak exit links
Newcastle are expected to have a busy summer transfer window after the club qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season.
The biggest priority for the Magpies will be to keep hold of Alexander Isak, who has been linked with a move away.
Arsenal have been linked with Isak this season but as per recent reports, Liverpool have overtaken the Gunners in the Swede’s pursuit.
As per TBR Football, Liverpool are now in pole position to sign Isak. Amid the uncertainty regarding the striker’s future, Newcastle have been linked with another striker in Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe loves Dominic Calvert-Lewin
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has revealed that while Calvert-Lewin wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter, he could accept a ‘pay-as-you-play’ style deal, which might suit both parties given his availability issues in recent seasons.
Bailey added that a move isn’t expected to materialise immediately, but with Howe’s admiration for the player clear, Newcastle are firmly in the conversation. He said: “We do know Eddie Howe loves him. We know Eddie Howe likes him an awful lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a backup to Isak signed.
“We talk about Calvert-Lewin I think might be one of um two strikers going in there but he’ll be a third choice. It might be a pay-as-you-play sort of thing.
“I think Calvert-Lewin might be Newcastle bound. I know Howe loves him. Depends on what sort of deal he’s willing to take. If he’s not willing to take a deal, there is interest in Major League Soccer.
“There’s interest in Europe for Calvert-Lewin. So, I think he’s going to weigh up his options. I don’t think it’s a deal going to be done straight away. He’s got a lot of things to weigh up. You know, there are a lot of teams from the West Hams to the Newcastles, lots of.
“I would say nearly half the Premier League would be willing to take a chance on Calvert-Lewin.”
Manchester United and Nottingham Forest also interested in Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin, who is out of contract at Everton this summer, has rejected the club’s advances over a new deal.
Moyes wants to persuade Calvert-Lewin to stay, however, there is substantial interest from Premier League clubs in the Everton striker.
TBR Football previously reported that the player is ready to leave Goodison Park, with Newcastle holding substantial interest in signing Calvert-Lewin.
However, they are not the only club interested in signing him. It has been reported by Bailey that Tottenham and Manchester United have all shown interest in signing the 28-year-old along with West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
Having joined Everton in 2016, the ‘fantastic‘ English striker has racked up 273 appearances, scoring 71 goals and assisting 22 goals across all competitions. In the Premier League alone, Calvert-Lewin has scored 57 and assisted 18 in 239 games.
Man United have already signed Matheus Cunha and are closing in on a move for Bryan Mbeumo. It is unlikely that they would then make a move for Calvert-Lewin.
