Newcastle should drop Perez for Brighton clash

Newcastle United are facing a crucial run of fixtures after the international break. It has been a poor start to the season and the club must start to climb the table soon.

Ayoze Perez has started seven of Newcastle’s matches to date in an advanced role supporting the striker. However, he hasn’t scored and only contributed one assist. Furthermore, he is averaging only 0.9 shots per game.

This isn’t good enough for a player with his quality and experience. Perez has been a regular for Newcastle since joining the club and is regarded as one of their most technical attackers. Last season, he finished as the top scorer with eight.

Although they have had difficult fixtures, Newcastle’s failure to create chances has been a massive problem this season. That needs to be addressed.

As one of the side’s starting attackers, Perez’s contribution needs to be questioned. Yoshinori Muto impressed against Manchester United and he could be deployed in place of the Spaniard.

This would allow Rafa Benitez to bring either Salomon Rondon or Joselu into the starting eleven. The match against Brighton is a huge one and it is time Perez is dropped.
