Newcastle don’t want to make Kenedy’s loan deal permanent due to huge asking price
Newcastle do not want to sign loanee Kenedy on a permanent basis from Chelsea this summer,
They that Kenedy’s form has not been good enough during his second loan spell at St James’ Park to merit a permanent contract at the club.
And that has been exacerbated by the fact that Chelsea are demanding £30m for the player who has just the one year left on his Stamford Bridge contract.
The transfer embargo in place at the west London outlet complicates the situation slightly, but it’s tough to see the Brazilian establishing himself at the club notwithstanding.
It’s understandable that a club as frugal as Newcastle don’t want to smash their transfer record to sign Kenedy, given how poor he has been this season.
He hasn’t even been able to force his way into a side that has been desperate for a left back, or left wing back to offer thrust, or even a speedy winger further forward this term.
That’s a fairly damning indictment of his quality, but he would be a useful enough addition if Chelsea offered a reasonable price.
But for the time being, it’s probably better that he leaves the club, although Chelsea will struggle to secure a buyer while their asking price remains as high as £30m.
