Newcastle could take £10m loss on their ‘amazing’ player with MLS move looming
TBR Football understands that Miguel Almiron has told Newcastle that he wants to move back to America in MLS and Charlotte FC are trying to broker a deal.
Almiron has attracted strong interest from the Saudi Pro League and Brazil, whilst there has been enquiries from rival Premier League clubs.
Newcastle paid over £20million to sign Almiron from MLS side Atalanta in 2019 and they have been hoping to make a profit on the popular Paraguayan and a move to Saudi Arabia would have facilitated that.

However, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey can reveal that as it stands Almiron wants to move back to America – leaving Newcastle with a decision to make as Charlotte would not be willing to pay close to £20million, indeed maybe less than half.

Newcastle money issues playing into Almiron sale decision
Newcastle continue to have PSR worries and want to bank as much money from Almiron as possible as he is one of their only sellable assets going into the January window.
Earlier this week Charlotte assistant manager and former Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs confirmed the club’s desire to land Almiron.
“He’s a great player but I don’t really want to talk about him as he hasn’t signed yet,” Fuchs told Sky Sports.
“There’s always a lot of names being associated with Charlotte FC and all I know is that once it is signed, Almiron will be a great addition to our club and I would really look forward to him joining us and playing for us.”
Who is interested in signing Miguel Almiron from Newcastle?
While Charlotte FC appears to be the destination of choice now for Almiron, he’s not been without potential suitors in recent times.
Fulham were looking at Almiron at the end of the summer window, while Newcastle rejected a decent bid from Charlotte FC themselves around the same time.
With Almiron looking to get out of St James’ Park, his exit now seems inevitable.
A move to the MLS, putting him closer to family back home in Paraguay, seems to be the option he wants to pursue.
