Report: ‘World-class’ player has told Newcastle he’s open to signing, deal could happen in next 72 hours

Newcastle United could accelerate plans to sign Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, with reporting that a deal could be done in the next 72 hours if the Magpies want it.

It comes as the same claims Ramsey’s camp have given Newcastle a positive response when being asked about the midfielder moving to St James’ Park. The 31-year-old is surplus to requirements in Turin and has been linked with a move back to England all January.

Ramsey will command huge wages if Newcastle do sign him. However, with PIF now in charge of the club, big spending isn’t a problem when it comes to player contracts. It’s widely known that Ramsey penned a deal with Juventus when he left Arsenal that wasn’t far off the £400k-a-week mark.

Of course, despite their riches, Newcastle would hope to see Ramsey drop those figures a bit. However, the club are not averse to making him their highest paid player either. The Magpies are expecting a busy week this week, with players such as Jesse Lingard, Dele Alli, and more all being linked.

Eddie Howe has taken his team to Saudi Arabia this week for a warm weather training camp.

TBR’s View: Aaron Ramsey A Major Signing For Newcastle

Now this is more like it from Newcastle and PIF. A proven player, on big money, and with a point to prove. Signing Ramsey is a no-brainer really.

He brings goals. He brings experience. And he brings a level to the squad which means everyone else will need to step up, much like Kieran Trippier will have done. Ramsey, as his Welsh teammate Ben Davies once , is a world-class player on his day.

His time at Juventus has not gone brilliantly. But he knows the Premier League well, and in terms of midfielders, Newcastle can’t do much better.
