Newcastle considering another bid to sign £30m player who Pep Guardiola says will be ‘world-class’
- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Newcastle could now be willing to table another bid for a player whom Eddie Howe was keen to bring to St James’ Park earlier in the summer.
It’s set to be a busy few weeks for Paul Mitchell on Tyneside, who seems to be stepping up Newcastle’s efforts to improve Howe’s squad.
TBR Football recently shared that Liverpool won’t rival Newcastle for Marc Guehi in the coming weeks – excellent news from Mitchell’s point of view.
And in terms of outgoings, Newcastle are determined to sell Miguel Almiron before the new Premier League season begins, perhaps paving way for a new right-winger to arrive.
That being said, and having already signed two goalkeepers this summer, Newcastle are still considering the addition of another stopper before August ends.
Earlier this summer, Newcastle tabled a bid for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
And now TBR understands that Newcastle retain an interest in bringing Trafford to the club to compete with Nick Pope.
Newcastle still considering James Trafford bid despite signing two keepers
As part of their PSR last-minute scrambles, Newcastle signed Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest, with Elliot Anderson heading the other way.
And with the addition of John Ruddy to their goalkeeping department as well, Howe’s options look to be set.

However, TBR can confirm that Newcastle are still interested in Trafford who they turned to this summer after deciding against a move for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.
21-year-old Trafford is set to begin the new Championship season with Burnley in only a few days time.
Vincent Kompany’s former side have already sold Arijanet Muric and Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer, welcoming Vaclav Hladky in turn.
And therefore it seems unlikely that Burnley would agree to a cut-price sale, and Trafford could cost Newcastle as much as £30m.
Despite being dropped in the Premier League last season, Trafford clearly has considerable potential, hence why Pep Guardiola declared that he would one day be ‘’.
But it will surely divide opinion among Newcastle fans should the club commit further funds to signing goalkeepers this summer.
That being said, Newcastle have revived their interest in another former Premier League player according to reports.
