Newcastle boss Steve Bruce beams about new signing Danny Rose

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has told the that signing a ‘class act’ in Danny Rose has to be seen as a coup.

The Magpies boss welcomed the England international to the club on Thursday afternoon.

Rose penned a season-long loan deal at St James’ Park and will fill the void left by Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett who are both out for the season.

The £60,000-a-week player had finally decided to leave Tottenham after falling way down the ranks under Jose Mourinho.

Bruce was delighted to finally get his man and praised his new left-back.

“He has proven quality, as he’s shown over several years for club and country, and is a class act.

“It’s a big coup for us to get him here and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Rose has made 214 appearances for Tottenham but the chance to play first-team football has seen him seek pastures new.

The experienced performer has also played for Sunderland during a loan spell earlier in his career.

Rose has collected 29 England caps during his career and Newcastle will hope he can help them up the league.

The Magpies are 13th in the league but have enjoyed some decent results in the league of late.

They beat Chelsea 1-0 and drew with Everton 2-2 before suffering a disappointing draw with League One outfit Oxford United on Saturday.

Rose’s addition is timely and it will be interesting to see if he can help the club climb the Premier League.
