Newcastle are still interested in £25m Chelsea player after he is dropped from first-team squad
Newcastle are in the market for further reinforcements as they look to assemble a squad capable of returning to the Champions League.
Eddie Howe is desperate to add a new central defender to his ranks with Sven Botman sidelined through a knee injury.
Newcastle are in talks to sign Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, though, that deal is proving difficult due to the finances required.
So, they could now turn to a Chelsea player instead.

Newcastle still interested in Trevoh Chalobah
journalist Lyall Thomas has revealed that Newcastle remain interested in Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah.
“Newcastle are also thought to have Chalobah on their list too having had three bids for Guehi rejected.” Thomas said.
“Chalobah is understood to be staying patient over his future despite being separated from Chelsea’s first-team group.
“He was not included on their pre-season tour to the USA and has been training with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja, who are also up for sale.”
Newcastle face competition
Newcastle aren’t the only club interested in the £25m-rated Chalobah as Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are also keeping an eye on his situation.
Palace will only move for the Chelsea man if they lose Guehi or Joachim Anderson, who is of interest to the Magpies and Fulham.
Newcastle have Toulouse defender Logan Costa on their radar, too, and he’s expected to be the cheaper alternative with a valuation of around £21.4m.
It seems a transfer domino could be about to unfold…
