Newcastle are ‘over the moon’ after securing the signature of Spanish teenager who Arsenal and Tottenham were also trying to sign
Newcastle United sources have confirmed to TBR Football that they have clinched the signature of Malaga teenager Antonio Cordero.
The teenager is out-of-contract this summer, and as TBR Football revealed back in February, Cordero had held talks with several clubs.
But now TBR Football can confirm that Cordero has accepted Newcastle’s offer and we are told he has signed his pre-contract.

Newcastle delighted at the signing of Antonio Cordero
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey claims that Newcastle United are delighted at the signing of Antonio Cordero who will join in the summer when his contract with Malaga expires.
The Magpies have beaten several Premier League clubs to his signature with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and West Ham having all made contact.
The Tyneside club have been chasing a deal for the Spanish winger for almost a year and finally looked to have sealed the move.
Bailey told TBR Football: “Newcastle are over-the-moon with this signing, they have been on Cordero’s trail for over 12 months and have put a lot of work into it.
“A host of other clubs had talks, with him but the player has opted for Newcastle, and this isn’t them just paying over the odds and blowing other offers away, the player sees Newcastle as his best option which is really satisfying to them.”
What is Eddie Howe and Newcastle’s plan for Antonio Cordero?
Newcastle’s initial plan is to make Cordero part of the club’s Under-23s or send him out on loan, however, the prospect of him being fast-tracked straight into the first team is not to be ruled out.
Eddie Howe is set to take a look at him over pre-season and will then decide whether the Spanish youth international is ready for Premier League football.
“I am told don’t rule out Cordero being part of the first-team squad next season – the initial plan is for him to be an Under-23 player or even loaned out, but they like him a lot and they will allow Eddie Howe to have a look at him, before deciding what to do with him, but some within the club think he is good enough to push for a place,” added Bailey.
