Newcastle are now interested in signing ‘brilliant’ forward Manchester City sold for £46m
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now showing interest in former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres.
That is according to , which has named three other clubs who want to sign the Barcelona forward in the January transfer window.
So, what has been reported about Newcastle United and Ferran Torres? Let’s take a look.
Newcastle United linked with former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres
Well, according to , Newcastle United are interested in signing Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Torres wants more playing time and “is seriously thinking about leaving Barcelona”.
TuttoJuve has noted the competition that the Spain international forward is facing at Barcelona at the moment, stating that he could “consider tempting offers to move on loan”.

Newcastle are interested in the former Manchester City forward, who was described as by Pep Guardiola in May 2021.
Unfortunately for Eddie Howe’s side, they are not the only club who are keen on the 23-year-old. Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid, too, are interested in Torres, who cost Barcelona £46.3 million () in transfer fees when they signed him from City in January 2022.
Arsenal and Aston Villa were linked with Torres in the summer of 2023.
My View: Newcastle United should avoid signing Ferran Torres
In my view, Newcastle United should not sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the January transfer window, even on a loan deal.
I do not think that the 23-year-old would make the Magpies better or more potent in attack.
Yes, Torres is a very good ‘forward’, but he is not a ‘natural’ striker. I do not think that the youngster will score too many goals.
While Newcastle could do with signing a ‘striker’ who could score goals regularly when Callum Wilson is not playing, I do not think that Torres is the right player.
Torres has scored three goals in 14 La Liga matches and has scored two goals and given one assist in five UEFA Champions League games for Barcelona this season.
