Newcastle are about to make a bid for ‘great’ player

Newcastle have had quite a slow transfer window so far with Odysseas Vlachodimos the only player signed for a transfer fee so far this summer.

Of course, the Magpies have been up against the Profit and Sustainability rules in the Premier League this summer, but there has been a distinct lack of activity.

However, that may all be about to change.

Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on NUFC Matters, Newcastle’s interest in AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw may be about to step up a notch.

Thiaw has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle recently, and according to Jacobs, a bid for the German could be imminent.

Newcastle are about to bid for Malick Thiaw

Jacobs shared what he knows about the ‘’ defender.

“I think with Thiaw. We know it’s a big target as far as Newcastle are concerned, and it’s now at the stage where Newcastle are likely in the coming days if not the coming hours to make their opening formal offer,” Jacobs said.

Malick Thiaw is just what Newcastle need

Malick Thiaw is just the player Newcastle need.

The 22-year-old will add some serious quality to this Newcastle backline, and at the age of just 22, he has plenty of room to grow and improve.

Newcastle’s defence was ropey at times last season as injuries took hold, but if Thiaw arrives and Sven Botman returns to full fitness, Newcastle will have quietly put together one of the strongest centre-back pairings in the league.

Whether or not Newcastle can get this deal over the line remains to be seen, but the fact that an opening bid is about to go in is encouraging to say the least.

Thiaw appears to be one of Newcastle’s top transfer targets, and there may well be some concrete movement on this front in the next few weeks.
