Newcastle and Leeds surely have no chance of Reece James loan
Newcastle United and Leeds United fans would have been forgiven for immediately thinking that they stood little chance of signing Reece James that both Steve Bruce and Marcelo Bielsa are fans of the youngster.
That report emerged the day after James had played 27 minutes of Chelsea’s win over Burnley. He had only made two starts for the Blues at that stage, with one coming in the Carabao Cup win over Grimsby Town.

that Newcastle’s desire to bring James in on loan was ambitious. Meanwhile, Leeds supporters would have probably felt that there was very little chance that Bielsa’s admiration of the player would lead to a potential January move.
Nevertheless, had James – – struggled for game-time in the weeks leading up to January, perhaps the two clubs may have taken some encouragement.

But following Chelsea’s 4-4 draw with Ajax on Tuesday, perhaps it is now fair to say that any remaining hope the two clubs may have had has now evaporated.
James played the second-half of the clash with the Eredivisie leaders. And he scored the equalising goal as the Premier League side came from 4-1 down to earn a point.
James has shown that he can make an impact on the biggest stage having already hinted that he is good enough to ply his trade in the top flight.
He may get more game-time elsewhere if he leaves in January. But the signs suggest that he is doing just fine where he is.
It will probably come as no shock to Newcastle and Leeds. But surely, any club previously considering a January loan bid for the full-back is now preparing to concentrate their efforts on other potential targets.
