Newcastle about to make first bid for Dominic Calvert-Lewin – journalist
Journalist Dean Jones that insiders are convinced that Newcastle United are about to launch a bid to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.
It could well be a busy final few weeks of the summer window for the Magpies. Eddie Howe has welcomed a number of signings who strengthen their ranks at the back. However, the fans are awaiting their first attacking addition.

Reports have claimed that they have made a bid for Jack Harrison. But they are also on the lookout for a new striker.
They have been linked with Calvert-Lewin for much of the window. However, Everton’s need to sell has diminished now that Richarlison has joined Tottenham.
But it does appear that Newcastle are planning to test the Toffees’ resolve to keep the England international. And Jones has had information to suggest that a bid for Calvert-Lewin is not far away at all.

“The spending since a Saudi takeover has been pretty cautious given the wealth available to the club – yet in the case of signing a new forward we could see them splash out for the first time,” .
“Insiders are convinced they would push the boat out to sign Calvert-Lewin and will soon start making an attempt to get the centre-forward who reportedly has an asking price of £60m.”
Newcastle set to make move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin
As Jones suggests, Calvert-Lewin will not come cheap by any means. He was labelled ‘‘ by Carlo Ancelotti. But Newcastle’s chances of signing the forward will surely be helped should he suggest that he wishes to leave Goodison Park.
The Toffees clearly mean a lot to the 25-year-old. However, some of the signs in pre-season would perhaps suggest that it could be another long campaign for Frank Lampard’s men.
They were beaten 4-0 in their latest pre-season game. And it seemed to be a fairly strong lineup from Everton.
That may perhaps leave Calvert-Lewin with food for thought – especially if Newcastle are planning to make a big offer.
