‘Never thought I would’: Pundit can’t believe what he’s said about Alexandro Bernabei now

The curious case of Celtic defender, Alexandro Bernabei continued last week as the full-back was plucked out of obscurity to face Ross County.

The £3.75m signing from Lanus has barely featured this season due to the form of Greg Taylor. But now that the Scotland full-back is unavailable for selection, Bernabei was thrust back into the frame for the 1-0 Parkhead win.

However, despite facing a side that is struggling at the bottom of the table, the Argentine didn’t shine at all in the 90 minutes he was on the pitch. Or at least didn’t exert his authority on the game.

In fact, what Bernabei did do was convince radio pundit, Gordon Dalziel, that he is simply not good enough to play for Celtic now.

Dalziel was left flabbergasted and said he has ‘dumped him’ after witnessing one thing he did against The Staggies.

Dalziel said [], “I’m going to sit here and say it, I never thought I would. I have given up on Bernabei. I’ve dumped him. I’ve lost faith in him.

“I think he’s got good ability and go to another club and do very, very well.

“I’ll tell you where I lost faith and I’ve got to say I watched it closely. There was a time when Ross County were attacking down the right-hand side and Bernabei was chasing.

“And after about five yards he just gives up and starts jogging and I thought that’s not acceptable.

“That’s where I cut the cord.”

Many Celtic fans will agree with Dalziel. As a Hoops player the very least that is demanded from you is that you give your all for the club.

It is little wonder Brendan Rodgers doesn’t seem to fancy the former Argentine u23 international and he could very well be the next player that could be shown the Parkhead exit door.
