‘Never stopped’: Andy Carroll full of praise for Newcastle striker Joelinton

Newcastle won out last night with a snatch and grab win at Crystal Palace as Callum Wilson and Joelinton ensured the three points went back up north.

It was another typical Steve Bruce performance as the Magpies sat and defended before snatching the win through summer signing Wilson’s exploits in scoring and having a hand in the second.

The win bumped Newcastle up to tenth place on 14 points in the Premier League table and eased some of the pressure that, in honesty, never seems to ease off of Bruce’s shoulders.

One of the key men last night was striker, Joelinton. The Brazilian put in a good display after being handed the start and was rewarded in the end. Indeed, so impressive was the big striker, that fellow Newcastle man Andy Carroll was singing his praises on Twitter.

After Joelinton’s struggles, he is clearly impressing of late and it seemed Carroll wanted to ensure Newcastle fans fully appreciated the efforts of their Brazilian signing.

Carroll, meanwhile, remains in and around the squad at St James’ Park and will be hoping to help out just as Joelinton is doing over the course of the campaign.

The £40m striker has started to improve somewhat in recent weeks and Newcastle fans will be hoping he might have turned a bit of a corner.

For the money paid, his performances have been underwhelming to say the least. But last night there were hints of a player who has been putting the work in and it’s paying dividends.

If Joelinton and Callum Wilson can get it going regularly, then Newcastle can start to look up, rather than down.
