‘Never going to be’… Pundit says there are two players at Celtic that are simply not good enough

That statement could be levied at any number of players at Celtic right now.

As the club seems to be going through a crisis in confidence, it seems that the door is being held open for a number of players who simply don’t have a future at Celtic.

And whilst some players are kept on as able backups, Stephen McGinn has said that there are two at Celtic who are not even worthy of that status.

Speaking about Celtic’s apparent interest in goalkeeper, Will Dennis, McGinn said [], “I mean he’s a 23-year-old goalkeeper that’s doing well in the league. He’s a baby in terms of football and how long he’s going to carry on.

“But I think Celtic will be looking to replace Joe Hart with more of an experienced and established goalkeeper.

“So I think he will be looking for a more experienced goalkeeper long term in terms of a number two. Because the goalkeeping situation definitely needs to be addressed long-term.

“Because Siegrist and Scott Bain are never going to be the Celtic goalkeeper. I’m sure that they are good trainers and good backups, but they need to address the goalkeeping situation and that might mean that two goalkeepers are coming in for next season.”

Both Bain and Siegrist have never established themselves at Celtic. In almost five seasons at Celtic, Bain has made just 77 appearances. 30 of those were during Brendan Rodgers’ first tenure and during the ill-fated COVID season. []

As for Siegrist, two appearances in two seasons tell you all you need to know about what Celtic think of him. He’s clearly not rated and does need to be moved on.

The Celtic fans will be hoping that Rodgers has a goalkeeper earmarked to come in for next season as Joe Hart will be out of contract.
