‘Never’…Dejan Kulusevski shares what Ange Postecoglou told him in their first conversation

Dejan Kulusevski has been singing the praises of Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou ahead of this weekend’s game with Wolves.

Postecoglou has had a huge impact on Tottenham and they go into the weekend still very much in the hunt for top spot.

A chaotic game with Chelsea this week earned Spurs and Ange praise for their attacking style, even with nine men.

‘Ange Ball’ is the term that’s been doing the rounds a lot this season. It’s a far cry from the days under Antonio Conte, where defensive prowess was seemingly valued more.

Of course, Swedish winger Kulusevski has been one the big beneficiaries from Postecoglou’s way of playing and he’s been telling just what Ange told him from day one.

Speaking to , Kulusevski had some high praise for his manager and revealed what had been said in their first exchanges.

“It’s a new experience for me because I never had a coach like him. I had a lot of great coaches but he’s a little bit different in every way. The first conversation we had was like he said he liked me as a player and he thought he could improve me a lot. So already from the first day I already felt like he likes me and like he wants to use me. And then, after that I just listened to his tactics every game and I just listen to what he wants from me,” Kulusevski .

“I think obviously he’s an unbelievable guy. I like people that speak and are motivational but obviously he’s right at the top level of that. He’s number one in telling stories and getting use motivated for the game. Every time he speaks it’s just fun to sit and listen to what he’s going to bring today.”

Kulusevski will be hoping to step up further in the coming weeks, with news that James Maddison could actually be missing for a longer period than first thought.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation since being signed by Fabio Paratici and clearly, he’s a big fan of what Postecoglou has brought to the table.

As time ticks by for Spurs, the relationship between Ange and his key players will be even more important.

Now, with a string of injuries and suspensions to contend with, the first true test of those relationships is to come.
