Mikel Arteta was asked about Tottenham manager Antonio Conte’s angry comments following the Arsenal boss’ criticism of Premier League’s fixture scheduling a few days ago.

Arsenal were made to play against Aston Villa today at lunchtime, just two-and-a-half days after they faced Liverpool. The Gunners will have to do the same next month against Chelsea and Manchester United as well, which will make it really difficult for them.

“It’s not fair what they’ve done. It’s always Sky or BT, this or that, but the only one that is affected is Arsenal and the only thing that I care about and what we care about, is Arsenal and for Arsenal, it’s not fair,” Arteta said on Wednesday about the scheduling.

Tottenham boss Conte angrily at the Arsenal manager yesterday by claiming that Arteta should remember the postponement of the North London derby in January before talking about “fair or unfair”.

The Spaniard was a happy man in his press conference today after his side secured an impressive win over Aston Villa away from home.

The Gunners are four points clear of Manchester United with a game in hand and six ahead of Tottenham. That puts them in the driving seat to finish fourth, more so than they were before today’s game.

After the game, Arteta, unsurprisingly, was asked about Conte’s comments. The Arsenal boss responded by saying that he’ll never comment on another manager’s opinion.

“I give my opinion, I never comment on other managers’ comments. I give my opinion,” he said, as per .

Arteta’s criticism of the Premier League was a fair one as no club should be forced to play twice in the space of two-and-half days. Arsenal had to do it once today and they’ll be forced to do the same next month against Chelsea on Wednesday night and Manchester United at lunchtime on Saturday.

The Gunners boss was well within his right to voice his frustration against the Premier League, but it is understandable why Conte was irked about his comments.

The Premier League allowed Arsenal to postpone the North London derby in January due to COVID cases. Spurs made it clear then that they weren’t happy with the decision and it looks like Conte is still holding that over Arteta.

This just spices up the game between Tottenham and Arsenal even more and we can’t wait!
