Neil Warnock thinks Newcastle will have to spend £20m to get Arsenal player
as saying that Newcastle United or any other clubs will have to pay a whopping £20million to sign midfielder Joe Willock on a permanent basis – as he continues to shine on loan from Arsenal.
Willock, 21, joined Newcastle on loan from Arsenal back in January and has since impressed for Steve Bruce’s side – scoring three crucial goals in the Toon’s fight against relegation. His goals looked to have helped them survive.
Goals in wins over Southampton and more recently, against Champions League-chasing West Ham have helped Newcastle pick up two wins – while the Arsenal midfielder also scored against his parent club’s rivals Tottenham.
That saw Newcastle earn a point late on, and Middlesbrough boss Warnock claimed that Newcastle would have to splash out £20million to get Willock permanently – when discussing potential loan signings this week.
“Look at (Joe) Willock at Newcastle – I like him, but he’s probably going to go for about £20m if they get him,” . “The top ones are beyond us, so we have to look a little bit below or for someone we can nurture.”

TBR’s view – Is £20m a good deal for Willock?
Given that Willock is already scoring goals and changing games by himself, at the tender age of 21, then £20million is a bargain. Especially because, Willock can offer Newcastle 10 years of Premier League quality – or even more.
If he doesn’t stay at Newcastle for that long – should he sign – then he has enormous resale value, something that might even tempt Mike Ashley. If Newcastle are presented with a £20million deal, Willock must be signed.
