Neil Warnock makes claim about Leeds and midfielder Kalvin Phillips

that Leeds United proved with the win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday that they are not a “one-man band”, with Kalvin Phillips missing the clash through injury.

An excellent strike from Luke Ayling gave Leeds the lead in just the third minute, as he volleyed home an excellent cross from Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison. Patrick Bamford made it two with his first goal in eight league games.

Phillips, 24, missed the clash with a knee problem but it is not expected to be a serious issue. He has now clocked up a huge 175 appearances in all competitions for Leeds, but has proved crucial under the influence of Marcelo Bielsa.

Former Leeds manager Warnock discussed Phillips, claiming that Leeds proved they are not a one-man team with the comprehensive win over Danny Cowley’s side. He also stated that Leeds have a good chance of winning the Championship.

“He’s been their best player really,” . “He’s the one they miss, but they’ve proved that they’re not just a one-man band. No disrespect to the league, but there isn’t a Wolves that are running away with it. Leeds can win the league, now.”

TBR’s view – Harsh on Leeds to say they are a one-man team

Indeed, the likes of Ben White, Ayling, Stuart Dallas, Harrison and Pablo Hernandez will have something to say about that. Though Phillips is perhaps the most influential, every single Leeds player has shown their quality at some point.

Bielsa’s way of playing makes it impossible to be a one-man team. Every single player provides a crucial component in a well-oiled system. One component out of place, and it affects all. Though Phillips is the main cog, Leeds are not a one-man team.
