after Celtic’s 2-0 away win over Nomme Kalju on Tuesday night as saying that he is desperate to keep Scott Sinclair at Parkhead this summer.
Sinclair, 30, joined Celtic in the summer of 2016 and agreed one-year extension at Parkhead this summer. However, he has failed to start a single one of Celtic’s four matches this season – making three substitute appearances.
Indeed, earlier this summer that English Championship side Preston North End were interested in signing Sinclair – who has won nine trophies and scored 61 goals in 163 matches for the Hoops.
Celtic boss Lennon was asked about the future amid interest from Preston who are said to be willing to spend £2.5million on Sinclair, and the Hoops gaffer stated that he is desperate to keep him at Parkhead.
“A player with that experience is always so handy to have around,” “He’s got a great goal record and he’s had a great time at Celtic. So we don’t want him to go. That’s for sure.”
TBR’s view – Celtic need Sinclair, but does Sinclair want to stay?
Sinclair is an excellent option for Celtic and his experience will be crucial in what will be a 60-game campaign, if the Hoops can reach the Champions League group stages.
He is excellent cover and worth far more to the Hoops than a measly £2.5million. But should Sinclair remain at Celtic, if he is going to be warming the bench? It is a big decision for Sinclair, and an exit may be his decision.
